Welcome Messages

Welcome

Dear Friends and Colleagues,

We kindly invite you to attend and participate in the 11th European Paediatric Neurology Society Congress to be held in Vienna, the birthplace of specialised medicine from May 27–30, 2015.

The scientific programme will reflect the multidisciplinary character of paediatric neurology. Latest news in the field of Fetal Neurology, Cerebral Palsy, Neurorehabilitation and Epilepsy as well as Inflammatory Disease of the Nervous System, Metabolic Disorders, Neuromuscular Disorders, Neuropsychiatry, Stroke and Movement Disorders will be discussed by well-known experts from all over the world. Special attention will be paid to the history and state of the art knowledge of Rett Syndrome, also elucidating the contribution of his first description by Andreas Rett in Vienna.
As a last highlight of the scientific programme, the EPNS Board will organise the Academy in Paediatric Neurology and a session on Highlights in Paediatric Neurology on Saturday, May 30, 2015. Early morning sessions, free oral sessions and e-poster presentation will complete the programme.

Vienna is the ideal city for EPNS 2015: accessible, accommodating and, simply adorable! We promise a programme of serious scientific and educational content featuring local and international faculty and addressing all major issues of paediatric neurology.

The aim of the EPNS is to improve the lives of children and youths with neurological problems, and this is achieved through the many activities of the EPNS, including its biennial congresses. The EPNS Congress meetings are an ideal opportunity for you to join the EPNS in meeting its goal by discussing and sharing your knowledge and experiences in an atmosphere of collegiality and a spirit of optimism. We are confident that the meeting will further strengthen international interdisciplinary cooperation.

We will be delighted to welcome you to Vienna 2015.

Welcome EPNS president

Dear Friends and Colleagues,

Welcome to Vienna for the 11th European Paediatric Neurology Society meeting!

Prof Gunther Bernert, together with the local organising team and under the supervision of our EPNS scientific committee, has built an exciting program that will satisfy all your scientific and educational needs. Our  biennial congresses remain one of the most important all-in meetings in paediatric neurology:  teaching sessions, keynote lectures, oral and poster presentations and lunch symposia will cover all major sub-specialties within our challenging  world of paediatric neurology. Perhaps more importantly, meeting people, making new friends and discussing clinical practice problems or new research collaborations will make this congress very attractive and not-to-forget.

The EPNS is continuing on the right track, we hope.  Our goal to educate and support scientific research is very visible in our training courses ( taking place in Budapest for the next 3 years), our recently launched fellowship program, our research meetings (last year in Bucharest), our upcoming EPNS Cambridge Masterclass and our  biennial congresses, now in Vienna. For more details, please visit our website at www.EPNS.info or follow us at twitter: @EPNSnews .

We are happy we can keep our membership fees very democratic, with our Journal, the European Journal of Paediatric Neurology, still included in our membership fee. Over the last 2 years, we have seen our membership increase by more than 25%. Thank you for your continuous support and  I would like to encourage all non-members to become a valued EPNS member!

“Vienna, to me, it was the tuning fork for the entire world; Vienna wasn't just a city, it was a tone that either one carries forever in one's soul or one does not. It was the most beautiful thing in my life".  This is a famous quote of the writer Sandor Marai and very nicely illustrates the challenge of our meeting in Vienna.  But, looking at the scientific program, the venue and the après-science possibilities in Vienna, I am very reassured you will be carried away forever after our meeting!

Welcome!
